This time, I am going to review about QY8. This is going to
be my second time I reviewed a Bluetooth Earphone, after Jabra Sport Wireless+.
Unboxing
In the box, there is the earphone, QY8. QY8 has round shape
at the body. Seems like a snail shell shape. Mine was black. Maybe that was the
only available colour.
There is also a short charging cable, with has length of a
span. Seriously, it is very short. Perhaps it is for reducing resistance in the
charging cable, hence ensure faster charging.
It comes with small, medium and large size of ear tube. And
also, a less useful guidebook.
Overview
The manufacturer claimed that the earphone can last about
4-5 hours for every single full charge. Compared to my previous Jabra which
last for only 2.5 hours, it is quite promising. I can use this for my upcoming
Full Marathon, perhaps
There is big circle at the right side of your earphone. It
is multi-function button, I called it. Press it to play and pause the current
song.
There is also buttons to adjust the volume of your QY8. To
jump the next track, you just have to hold the volume button, either to move to
next song or replay current or previous song.
To turn on the Bluetooth earphone, just press the big right
circle of the earphone. After that, open your device Bluetooth menu, switch on
your Bluetooth, and connect with your QY8. Easy right? No need to install any 3rd
party apps.
To switch off the earphone, just hold the right circle
button until there is voice “Thank You for Using” heard.
Real-life test
Firstly, in term of sound, my previous Jabra Sport Wireless+
has a better balance in term of bass sound. Which means, Jabra produced better
sound compared to QY8. No doubt. But, it’s okay la for me, as long as it
produce sound (and the most important part is, it works). It produce an okay,
not bad sound. How should I say this? Let’s say that you are currently writing
using Stabilo mechanical pencil. You would say that this pencil is awesome.
But, then you try to write using a Pilot mechanical pencil, then you will say
that Stabilo pencil is, okaylah.
In term of battery, it really works for about 4-5 hours.
Maybe those Full Marathon runners might consider to buy this earphone. My
advice is, just set the device at medium-low volume. The device (might) works
for a longer period.
QY8 can works normally around 8-10 metres away from the device,
before it starts to loss signal and voices cannot be heard from the earphone.
It is normal.
I should say that I am slightly really disappointed with the
QY8 for one reason. The device will fall off from my ear after I run for about
only 500 metres. Sweat and the absence of ear hook at the earphone, has cause
it to not properly fixed to my ear when I run. I have my personal reason to be
disappointed with QY8. This is because the main reason I bought QY8 because I read
various review about the device that it can properly fixed to runners’ ears when
they run, without ear hook. At the end, it was all crap. However, I am going to
share with you guys tip to fix this problem at the last heading of this post.
Comment
There are 3 main reasons I bought QY8. Firstly, it is a
Bluetooth earphone. Again, no more cords.
Secondly, it is cheap. After my Jabra device cannot be used,
there is no necessities for me to buy super-duper expensive electronic device
for my running activities. Just bought a useful, long-lasting, value-for-money
device. I am done with those expensive gadgets. Sometimes, they are overrated.
Thirdly, the reviews written in various platforms claimed
that it could fixed at runners ears during they run. However, it isn’t.
To fix this problem, I bought a cheap ear hook (search for: ear
hook for Bluetooth device, and sort with lowest price) for Bluetooth device at
Ali Express. It only costs about $0.25 for 6 pieces (around RM1.20, so RM0.20
per piece). I pick for ear hook with 5.5~6.6 mm. Remember that the manufacturer
might sold ear hook with various diameter, so please check your Bluetooth
device’s diameter, and buy the correct ear hook for your device.
There is a total change when you used the ear hook. Before
this, I run for about 0.5 km, and then has to adjust the ear hook. Now, no more
distraction. I can run for 10 km without holding QY8 all along my run to make
sure it is fixed to my ear. However, you may feel a little bit pressure at your
ear after a long use of the earphone. Please adjust your ear hook to ensure
that you feel comfortable when wearing it, or at least less pressure felt at
your ear.
Actually, I just found out that I bought the earphone from
OEM manufacturer. That could be an explanation why it is very cheap, and has no
warranty. There is other brand such as QCY and JESBOD which also sell similar
product.
I bought QY8 at Lazada. However, you are advised to visit
all online shop available such as Ali Express, Mudah, Lelong, and other shop
available near to your house such as Low Yat, One Gadget and others. Perhaps,
you may compare the price and buy the QY8 at the lowest price.
